Hydrodemolition

Hydrodemolition is a safe, fast, high quality and environmentally friendly method of performing removal of concrete, waterproofing membrane, and joint sealant from reinforced concrete structures. Hydrodemolition is the process of utilizing high-pressure water to perform concrete removal from horizontal, vertical and overhead surfaces. The hydrodemolition robots are typically programmed to remove sound concrete to a specified depth, as well as unsound concrete below the specified depth. The cutting nozzle is mounted to a beam and traverses back and forth a predetermined number of times along this beam, at a predetermined speed, during the concrete removal process. These settings determine the depth of concrete removal. Hydrodemolition is a safe, fast, high quality and environmentally friendly method of performing removal of concrete, waterproofing membrane and joint sealant from reinforced concrete structures.

Benefits Of Hydrodemolition

Hydrodemolition provides many benefits versus conventional concrete demolition. These benefits include:
  • Minimal silica dust: Since water is used to perform the concrete removal, minimal silica dust is produced during hydrodemolition.
  • Superior bonding surface: This is an ideal surface profile to provide an excellent mechanical bond of repair materials.
  • No micro-fractures: The hydrodemolition process does not produce a mechanical impact to the concrete and therefore no micro-fractures are created.
  • No structural vibration: The hydrodemolition process does not rely on mechanical impact to remove concrete. This eliminates structural vibration during concrete removal.
  • Unsound concrete removal: The hydrodemolition process relies on the water nozzle traversing at a predetermined speed to achieve sound concrete removal as well as unsound concrete removal.
  • Lower Labor Costs: Labor requirement is significantly reduced by the hydrodemolition process.

Shotblasting

Is the primary method specified by engineers and material manufacturers to clean and profile horizontal concrete prior to the application of protective surface treatments. The use of steel shot propelled at high velocity onto the surface cleans and profiles the surface by removing dirt, laitance, and previously applied sealers to create a new clean bondable surface. The dust generated from this process is then separated from the blast media and contained within the system creating a relatively dust free environment with minimal airborne dust. Shotblasting can also be used to remove thin film coatings such as epoxies up to 1/8” in a single pass; thicker systems may require multiple passes.

Concrete Breaking

When your project calls for concrete breaking, our Brokk units and experienced personnel are ready to go to work for you. These units are able to achieve removal rates that should keep you ahead of your project schedule. Our self-contained units are very reliable and effective in performing full depth concrete removal applications. If large areas of full depth slab removal is required the use of our electric/ hydraulic breakers provide a safe effective way of removal. The system can be operated from a safe distance by a single operator reducing the overall manpower and improving the safety of a crew versus using conventional jackhammer methods. Reducing manpower and increasing production will result in increased profits on your next project.

Concrete Munching

When your project calls for full depth concrete removal with restrictions on noise and/or vibration, our concrete munchers are the tool to get the job done. Our Concrete munching system produces minimal vibration and very little noise. Munching can be performed in hotel, condominium, hospitals and other parking garages without fear of vibration or noise disturbing clientele.

Milling & Scarifying

Concrete Milling/Scarifying is the bulk removal of concrete and/or waterproofing membrane. Because of the pummeling action of multi-tipped cutting wheels, Milling/Scarifying removes concrete faster and more aggressively then grinders. Applications include removing coatings, light or heavy milling, and leveling misaligned concrete joints and uneven surfaces. The process leaves a coarse/grooved texture.   These settings determine the depth of concrete removal. Hydrodemolition is a safe, fast, high quality and environmentally friendly method of performing removal of concrete, waterproofing membrane and joint sealant from reinforced concrete structures.
